I’ve been looking forward to this post for a while now. Today, I am joining 23 other bloggers to share an outdoor tablescape with you. Outdoor entertaining is one of the great pleasures of summer, and we so enjoy eating on our deck as frequently as possible. Coming from the land of ice and snow (*har har* we don’t all actually live in igloos here in Canada), I think we appreciate the good weather even more! I created this tablescape to feature my DIY block-printed napkins, so I went with a bright, global, and fresh turquoise and orange palette.
Special thanks to Chloe from Celebrate & Decorate for hosting and organizing this hop! She’s done a great job getting us all ready for this event.
My tablescape is simple and fresh, with a preppy turquoise and orange palette. I made use of pieces I already had on hand, and you might recognize the cheerful charger plates from last year’s outdoor look.
The flowers in the small centrepiece are orange day lilies from my garden. I added some greenery that I also had growing in my own backyard. One of summer’s pleasures is picking fresh flowers from the garden, no?
The little cobalt blue vase is something I’ve had for years and years (since I was a kid, in fact). I have idea where it came from, but I just love the intense colour.
The lacey votive holders are leftovers from my wedding. I can’t bear to part with them because they are just so pretty! I kept things simple for the place settings themselves, because I firmly believe that outdoor dining should be an un-fussy experience. I added a little touch of whimsy with the scattered green and turquoise glass rocks. Couldn’t resist how shiny and pretty they look!
The charger plates were a great Loblaws find last year. I’m a sucker for bright colours, especially turquoise and coral.
Of course I love how my block-printed napkins get a leading role in this tablescape. They were such a fun and easy DIY!
I hope you’ll take some time to peruse the other participants’ beautiful al fresco tablescapes. As we reach the mid-point of summer, there is some truly lovely inspiration to be had for your outdoor entertaining. Maybe you’ll be inspired to give your al fresco dining table a little makeover this weekend?
P.S. I promise to have some baby news up for you soon! For now… Off to catch some much-needed zzzzzz’s. 🙂
