Vibrant Thanksgiving Table | Thanksgiving Centerpiece DIY | Year of Feasting

Hard to believe that it’s already October! For us Canadians, that means that Thanksgiving is right around the corner (like, next weekend – yikes! Better order my turkey!). I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving this year because we will host it in our home, and our little girl will enjoy it so much more than last year (when she was just a few months old). We have so much to be thankful for! When 1-800-Flowers.com approached me to use their flowers in an autumnal tablescape, I thought it would be the perfect trial run for our big dinner next weekend. And it just so happens that October coincides with the fall Year of Feasting event! The stars really aligned.

For those of you joining me here at Flourish & Knot for the first time: welcome! The Year of Feasting blog hop is one of my all-time favourite blogging events, where a group of Canadian bloggers each create seasonal tablescapes and set-ups, and then actually host the meal. This Thanksgiving one required a little bit of blogger magic (hard to host Thanksgiving ten days early!), but my husband and I did in fact enjoy the food I photographed! We indulged in some Quebec cheeses, delicious charcuterie, fresh baguette, ripe local strawberries (soooo yummy!), and a nice bottle of Riesling (our favourite white wine).

Mickey Mouse Inspired Rice Krispies Treats | SSBH #24

Mickey Mouse Inspired Treats

Summer is drawing to a close, and with it, those last few precious family vacation days. I hope that everyone has had at least a little time this summer to relax with their loved ones! I am headed back to work after my year of maternity leave… tomorrow! (And I am SO excited for my new teaching adventure.) Today’s Spectacular Summer Blog Hop post (the third-to-last) is from Crafting a Family, who has not one but TWO Mickey Mouse inspired treats to share with you (along with a printable gift tag).

Mickey Mouse Inspired Treats

Our little girl has just started daycare, which opens up a whole new world (if you’ll forgive the pun) of Disney-inspired paraphernalia. Birthday themes, treats, backpacks, and of course the movies themselves. These Mickey Mouse treats are definitely getting pinned for when it’s my turn to bring something cute for her daycare friends. 🙂

Kid-Friendly Backyard Picnic Ideas | Spectacular Summer Blog Hop #11

Kid-Friendly Backyard Cookout Picnic

Today’s Spectacular Summer Blog Hop post is over at Crafting a Family, where Susan has put together SIX fantastic ideas and recipes for putting together a charming backyard campout-themed kids’ picnic. She really thought of everything, including pitching a cozy tent and some camping-turned-picnic food, and she compiled it all into a handy printable mini e-book. If you have young cousins or grandchildren coming to stay this summer, I think you need to head on over and see her ideas! Or maybe you’re a teacher like me, and are looking for some ways to keep your kids occupied while everyone’s at home over the summer break? I’ll be pinning Susan’s post for use a few years from now with our little girl.
