Something about autumn just makes people want to gather. Perhaps it is the cooler temperatures or simply the bounty of fresh produce we enjoy, but coming together for a meal is part and parcel of fall. A beautifully set table is one of the pleasures of this type of communal meal. Today I am joining several bloggers, to bring you some fall table inspiration, as part of the Autumn Tablescape Hop. After all, Thanksgiving (Canadian and American!) is just around the corner.
I would like to thank Chloe from Celebrate & Decorate for organizing this lovely blog hop! I have really enjoyed looking at everyone’s dining masterpieces this week. All the links are at the bottom of the post, so read on for more inspiration!
My mother-in-law and her sister are here visiting from Mexico, which was the perfect excuse to set a gorgeous table for dinner! I’m a firm believer in shopping your closet (or in this case, boxes and bins and drawers full of decor), so I put together this tablescape mostly using items I already owned.
Our kitchen and dining room are still red and yellow (sigh…) so I have to make that palette work when I pull together a table. (That red wall’s days are numbered, mind you!) Red and yellow are so easy to incorporate into fall decor, with all the beautiful leaves to use as inspiration.
The only items I purchased for this tablescape were a bag of little white pumpkins and the decorative corn. I believe those items together cost be a whopping $10. Money well spent. 😉 (As an aside: are there any bloggers NOT using white pumpkins this year?? They are just so darn cute!)
I always look forward to autumn and winter because I get to pull out my little wood and straw woodland critters! The hedgehog and owl are probably my favourite pieces of fall decor, and they are always a topic of conversation at the table.
I wanted my table to have a little sparkle and shine, to offset all the dark wood tones, so I brought in my brass candlesticks and some gold candles. (You can see them in last year’s Christmas table!) The texture of the candles reminds me of tree bark.
The beautiful birch centrepiece was made by my father, as were the little wooden coasters. He can build and make just about anything. I definitely get my DIY genes from him! (Though my mother is no slouch either, so I get it from both sides.)
I hope you’ll take some time and hop around to the other bloggers participating in the Autumn Tablescape Blog Hop. There are some truly magnificent tables to look at, and you’re sure to find inspiration for your fall table.
Your Fall Tablescape is so warm and inviting! I love the color palette you chose of creams and golds. Your centerpiece is perfect, and I adore that cute little owl! Happy Fall, and I hope that you have a wonderful day!!!
Thank you so much!
Don’t you just love the owl and porcupine? I love using them in a tablescape too. Your wood slice and bark textured candles as part of your centerpiece are a nice touch to your rustic fall theme. Your patterned napkins are perfect for a Fall tablescape.
Thank you so much, Marsha!
Sarah, your centerpiece is adorable, so full of whimsy! Love the wood charger and coasters (have you priced those at the retail level? Ridiculously expensive!) And, in spite of your comment on your colors, I very much like them. I laughed when I saw the hedgehog next the Indian corn….I always buy the corn for my fall porch, but it’s just a matter of days before the squirrels go to town on it as a buffet. Last year it was the very day I put it out, so I’ve gotten wiser and now leave it indoors. Happy Fall!

Hahahah Rita! Too true. I made a lovely door decoration with corn to welcome our houseguests and it wasn’t 24 hours before the squirrels had attacked!
I love your style Sarah, it’s so unique and modern! I love your woodland creatures peaking out and around your very cool centerpiece of wood and corn and baby boos. Lovely colors, gorgeous glasses! A warm and inviting setting for your special company-

White pumpkins are my weakness. I think they just add so much to a table…and yours looks beautiful! Happy fall!
Thanks, Kim!
Your owl and your hedgehog are such a cute addition to your pretty Fall tablescape. It all blends so well with your wood tabletop showing through. The pop of red in the placemats is a nice base for your place settings. Thank you so much for being part of the Autumn Tablescape Blog Hop!

Your red and yellow walls are the perfect backdrop for a warm and welcoming table! I love your woodland critters and your tree slice centerpiece with Indian corn! No, I can never resist Baby Boo pumpkins 🙂
Thanks, Mary! I sort of wish they weren’t still red and yellow, but they definitely work during this season. 🙂
Count me in with the white pumpkins. I’ve painted some faux ones and purchased fresh. Your little hedgehog is just adorable as he sits there waiting for the guests to arrive. This is a lovely table and I loved the way you styled it.
Hahahaha white pumpkins for ALL!
Your fall tablescape looks so warm and inviting. It has a casual yet elegant vibe. I love the cute critter on your centerpiece tray! Adding the white pumpkins to each place setting is the perfect touch. You’ve done a great job working with what you had on hand and with the colours of your room – my dining room has a paint job I’m dying to get rid of but that’s hubby’s job 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words, Lori!
