This Covid-induced work-from-home time has a silver lining: I finally have a little time to blog about all the beautiful weddings from the past year! Today I’m sharing one of my favourites from the summer of 2019. A+E’s stunning Hotel Mont Gabriel wedding was filled with classic, Victorian-inspired details.

The romantic, soft pink and white palette meant that I could really let one of my favourite early-summer flowers shine: PEONIES! In abundance! My favourite floral element was definitely A’s stunning bouquet. Here in Quebec, our local peony season starts way later than elsewhere (really only in mid-June), so I am often able to get local peonies for July weddings. (Sometimes this Zone 4/5 thing has its perks!)

Their beautiful day at the Hotel Mont Gabriel was captured by Cassandre Poblah. You can read even more about the day on her blog!

A+E’s arch was one of those miracle wedding moments. It rained absolutely cats and dogs until about an hour and a half before their ceremony. (I know! You can’t even tell from the photos, but I was seriously concerned the site would flood…) My team and I made a portion of the arch piece indoors so that at least we’d be able to use it if it looked like an indoor ceremony would be the only option. (I ALWAYS HAVE A RAIN PLAN!) Well, as luck would have it, the skies cleared, and we were able to (quickly!) add the “climbing” part of the design. I don’t think I’ve ever had to work faster, but it all came together. Phew!

What was great about this design was that the two base portions were separate from the actual arch installation, so my team and I moved them inside and placed them in front of the sweetheart table (and adding some “climbing” greenery and flowers).

The reception florals were all created in vintage silverware and teacups that A had thrifted. It added such authenticity to the Victorian garden party feel of the whole day. One of the great joys of creating custom wedding florals for my clients is infusing them with the couple’s personality!

And of course, since this was an early-summer wedding, I was able to use an abundance of locally-grown blooms and foliages. I would say that about 75% of the flowers were grown within 50 km of my studio!

HUGE shout-out to Cassandre Poblah for these pics! Thanks so much for sharing them with me. And of course, my thanks, always, to A+E for choosing me as your florist. Your Hotel Mont Gabriel wedding was memorable and meaningful, and it was an honour to play a part!
