A Sweet & Sparkly New Year’s Eve Candy Buffet

Copper, White, Blue, and Pink Candy Buffet | Sweet & Sparkly New Year's Eve Candy Buffet | Year of Feasting

Hi, friends! It’s been such a long time since my last post that I feel I should be singing “should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind… and days of auld lang syne.” I am so glad to be back here with you to share a simple but delightful idea for your New Year’s Eve gatherings. As the fourth and final instalment of the Year of Feasting series (for 2017 that is!), I created a sweet and sparkly New Year’s Eve candy buffet, filled with tasty treats and a bottle of bubbly.

Product for this post was provided by Amara. For more information, please see my Policies page. Thank you for supporting the brands that partner with Flourish & Knot.

I was thrilled to partner with Amara, who generously provided me with some beautiful seasonal home decor to use in my buffet set-up. It was very difficult to choose from among all their lovely offerings: they have home decor and seasonal decorations to suit every style. I settled on sparkly festive accessories that would easily transition from Christmas to New Year’s Eve.

I wanted to choose elements that would feel at home for Christmas parties but not feel out of place on New Year’s Eve. I always like New Year’s celebrations to have a different vibe from Christmas, but of course it isn’t always practical to have two completely different sets of decorations.

Since we have a toddler in the house (when did THAT happen??), I chose a set of shatterproof Christmas baubles in an icy blue-silver. They will look great on our tree, and Katherine can even help put them on… without fear of them breaking and cutting her little hands.

I grouped them together on a copper tray – I love the look of mixed metallics – with some mini lights underneath to add extra glow and a simple white pillar candle. I love a beautiful centrepiece… especially one that can be assembled in under 5 minutes! The sparkle of it feels very New Year’s Eve, and the palette isn’t overtly Christmas: a great transitional element for your holiday decor.

Another of my choices from Amara was the gorgeous glass hurricane lantern. It is handblown glass, and I just love the pattern at its base. It feels snow globe-esque to me. I layered some more mini lights and a blue beaded garland for a little extra shine.

Mini Cupcakes | Sweet & Sparkly New Year's Eve Candy Buffet | Year of Feasting

As fun as candy is, it’s nice to have to baking for a holiday party, so I made up a quick batch of mini cupcakes. I’ll let you in on a secret… they came from a box. But I added an extra egg and a shot of vanilla extract, and the icing is a homemade buttercream with apricot liqueur… So all in all, not too shabby!

I built the cake stand by using a copper candlestick with two plates in varying sizes. A great way of faking a cake stand if you don’t own one, or if yours doesn’t suit your party’s colour scheme.

Another of my beautiful new pieces, courtesy of Amara, is this set of copper and marble candlesticks. They are very simple, but the copper feels a little unexpected and they have a distinctly midcentury vibe to them. I feel like these would be a great gift choice, no matter the style of home: they can blend with traditional and modern pieces. I paired them with the DIY glittered candles I made (and never got a chance to use!) last year. I do love a little extra sparkle and shine for New Year’s Eve.

And of course… no candy buffet would be complete without the CANDY! I had so much fun shopping for tasty and pretty treats to use in my New Year’s Eve candy buffet. I stuck to my blue and white colour scheme, and added some pink to work with the copper accents. Layering the candy can be really interesting visually, and using clear vases or glasses makes it all that much more appealing. Other than the candy (and my new pieces from Amara), I didn’t buy anything for this buffet set-up. Getting a few new decorations is always so fun (especially for the holidays!), but don’t forget to shop your closets, too. If you are looking for something new to add to your home’s holiday look, you can check out Amara for some great ideas. They have items to suit every budget and style. (And by the way, there’s a huge sale on their site right now!)

I want to take a moment and thank Dannyelle from Life is a Party for organizing the quarterly Year of Feasting event. It has been wonderful getting to know some of my fellow Canadian bloggers through the series, and I’ve been inspired by everyone’s creativity throughout our seasonal posts.

Be sure to stop by the other participants’ blogs to see their gorgeous New Year’s Eve tablescapes. Everything these ladies do is always highly pinnable, but also accessible and easily reproduced in your own home. That’s part of what I love so much about this series!
